Valderrama Golf Club

Valderrama Golf Club is the undisputed jewel in the Costa’s golfing crown. It’s one of the most respected golf clubs not only in Europe but the world too. As well as frequently receiving prestigious awards, the club has played host to some of the globe’s most celebrated flagship tournaments, such as the Volvo Masters, the PGA European Tour and the 32nd Ryder Cup, won by Europe in a most thrilling finish.

It’s also the only club ever to have hosted golf’s pinnacle event outside its traditional homelands, USA and Britain. In 1999 and 2000, Valderrama was chosen to host the first two editions of the World Golf Championships and American Express Championship, which were won by Tiger Woods and Mike Weir respectively.

Valderrama is a private Members’ club, but a Limited number of starting times are offered for visitors most days of the year.

 

 

HANDY HINTS:

Hole four, par-5, 516m. Trent Jones classified this hole as one of his best par-5s, as well as describing it as a ‘delight to the eye’. From the first landing area you’ll notice a green of around 120 feet long and 40 feet wide. Behind it, a spring sends water cascading down along the right side of the green, finally falling about 10 to 12 feet into a spectacular lake.

Buggies, electric trolleys, driving range, putting green, golf lessons, pro shop, clubhouse and restaurant.

 

Requirements:

Handicap Limit: Men 24, ladies 32 – soft spikes only.
